In February and March of 2021, I saw many around me begin discussing the upcoming census and all I knew was that my background felt invisible but I wasn’t sure if other Latinxs felt like this too.
Having made a survey gaining 100 responses from Latinxs all over the UK, from Scotland to South London, I knew something had to be done, a movement had to start.
In June 2021, I began a series to represent young Latinxs In London, allowing them to voice their experience but also celebrate their contributions and excellence. This was accompanied by live streams with Latinxs I felt could inspire others – from Katherine, the director of Artperuk, to Radio host Colin Moreno.
I wanted people to feel like their stories mattered, that their talents were worth being seen and that important conversations in our community should be taking place.
