As a campaign committed to improving the representation of Latin Americans in the UK, it is critical for us to emphasise how important data is in achieving this goal. For this reason, we are delighted to say that we are working alongside the Office for National Statistics (ONS) in order to understand what data is being collected from the Latin American community and what steps we can take, as a community, to stand up against invisibility.

Alongside representation, we believe that social mobility for Latin Americans in the UK is just as important and would, in fact, allow us to move closer towards this goal.

Our main project with the ONS is to gather data about young Latin American university students, with the objectives being:

1. getting an estimate of how many Latin Americans are in higher education,
2. understanding barriers they may have faced
3. if they feel unrepresented or invisible in higher education etc.

As more Latin Americans start to reach jobs and positions of power it is our responsibility to unite and stand up against invisibility as a community.
